Will Boca make a comeback as a high-tech hub? Not for lack of trying. The personal computer was born in Boca at IBM’s former complex here that peaked at 10,000 employees in the ‘80s? Reborn as Boca Raton Innovation Campus, BRiC has teamed up with the historical society and experts for three virtual Tech Talks on the city’s past and future as a technology center.
“We look forward to welcoming our customers to our new Canon Americas Customer Innovation Center and showcasing Canon’s latest advances in inkjet technology and print solutions,” said Shinichi Yoshida, executive VP and GM, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “When safe to do so, we are excited for employees to take advantage of all the BRiC has to offer, including a bigger and better employee workspace design to enhance creativity, collaboration, and productivity.”
Baptist Health South Florida, the hospital’s parent company since last year, will lease roughly 38,000 square feet at what is now called the Boca Raton Innovation Campus, or BRiC. The move will create more space on Meadows Road “for medical uses.” In a news release, Mendez said, “We are proud to continue growing to meet the medical needs of our community in Palm Beach County, even despite the setbacks brought on by the pandemic.”
